DURABILITY AND SHARPNESS
The tools made from tungsten carbide last an exceptionally long time due to the material’s extreme hardness. These tools are very sharp and maintain their sharpness for an extended period.
Of course, you can sharpen them occasionally using a diamond file — we recommend a 600 grit. However, in most cases, sharpening will not be necessary for several months or even years.
CARE AND HANDLING
Please remember to handle the blades with care. Although they are extremely hard, they can break if dropped. Always store them safely in conditions that prevent accidental falls.
USAGE TIPS
Because the blade is very sharp, some chattering may occur during use. This effect happens when the sharp edge cuts deeply into the clay, creating vibrations.
To minimize chattering:

Use both hands to stabilize the tool.

Trim carefully so that the trimmings are no thicker than 2 mm and maintain an even thickness. Do it firmly.
- Make sure your clay is not too dry.
While trimming, keep a firm grip on the tool and ensure your clay is properly skin-dry. As you become familiar with the tool, you will find the conditions that work best for your trimming style.

Tungsten carbide tools are designed for more advanced users. They last much longer but are also more fragile.

Captain Hook blades are handmade, blacksmith-forged, and crafted from hardened stainless steel. They are more durable when dropped because steel is not as brittle as tungsten carbide but they last less.
