The use of this tool probably does not need to be explained to anyone. Its purpose is to point (using its beak) to a point in space. Used when throwing on the wheel, it shows us the boundaries of the vessels for repeatability.

It is undoubtedly a sculptural form, so you can also put the Cranes on a shelf and watch them, changing their configuration from time to time.

However, this tool has a unique feature that no other tools of this type on the market have. As can be seen from the pictures, the pointing element has two rotating parts: the “beak” and the “cheek”. The crane’s beak is a non-clamping element – it works loosely. The cheek, on the other hand, is a clamping element and is used to set the position of the beak. Thanks to this solution, you can set a point in space with beak, then, just before rolling, hide the beak “backwards”. This allows you to leave the tool stationary and continue wheel throwing – the hidden beaks do not take up space for your hands. Then you can set the beaks back to the position given by the cheeks without further adjustments – without turning the clamps. Phenomenal ! This is exactly like the moment when the cranes actually sing moving their beaks up as they walk across the meadow.

Attention. When positioning the tool at the working space, loose the base screw to align it with the table plane to avoid “swinging”. Each base is different and may be uneven. The base of the tool is made “evenly” – but thanks to the screw, it can be adjusted to the plane of the table a little bit. After setting and adjusting, you can tighten the screw. This adjustment is not mandatory, but it can make your work more convinient.
